What is GDPR?
The UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is an UK regulation on privacy and data which mirrors the protection provided for all individuals within the European Union and European Economic Area by the EU GDPR.
The transition from the EU GDPR to the UK GDPR came into effect on the 1st January 2021, and is tailored by the Data Protection Act (DPA), 2018. Together, the UK GDPR and DPA control how your personal information is used by organisations, businesses or the government.
Data Protection laws are designed to give you more control over your personal data, to simplify the regulatory environment across the EU for data management and to balance the right to privacy with the right to freedom of expression and information.
